Agapé Hospice's Bereavement Program
During Bereavement counseling, a trust relationship develops between the families, staff and volunteers that give families a secure feeling and ‘a haven’ as they embark on their journey of grief. When death occurs, a one-to-one counseling relationship may be provided during the first year for all adults who request this service, as well as follow up contacts. Remembrance services for family, friends, staff, and volunteers on the anniversary of the loved one’s death is encouraged. Volunteers are enlisted to work one-on-one through a ‘buddy’ system. Volunteers also assist the bereavement program in fulfilling community requests for education on grief and loss, as well as providing education and training workshops.
